Gender neutral parenting has taken a turn as parents embrace gender neutral theybies. Known as Gender Open or Gender Creative or Gender Affirming parenting style, these parents have taken raising your child gender neutral to a whole new level – as they raise gender neutral theybies without disclosing whether the child is a boy or girl. Is this proof of gender neutral going too far? Let’s join the gender neutral debate by starting out with some facts … Like what are intersex people & where do they fit? Are gender neutral pronouns fair or realistic? … & then we’ll consider whether gender neutral is ridiculous or just the logical next step in gender neutral education?? or not …

CHANNEL INTRO: I share advice & information about when & how YOU can create & raise YOUR own best family. I launched the Ask AMY channel in 2018 because I want you to experience something like the (never perfect but often) heavenly family life that I have.

DESTINY CALLS: My cosy corner of the internet started by a total quirk of fate! I am an Australian single mother by choice who unwittingly dropped into 21st century technology by accidentally launching a family channel www.youtube.com/LuckyFortune8Family which now has over 104K subscribers & 51M views.

BACKGROUND: I had an only child for nearly 9 years before giving birth to 4 more children within 2.5 years. In addition to my own 3 sons and 2 daughters – which include 2 sets of twins – I fostered 20 children over 7 years in 2 states, including same sex twins and sibling groups – before my own boy/girl twins were born. Before being formally, medically retired by the Medical Assessment Tribunal (in March 2014), I worked in child care (4 years), created/delivered professional development level courses in behaviour management philosophies & strategies (3 years), plus worked in public schools (2 years), and the child protection sector (8 years). Whilst I am permanently, medically unable to resume my prior profession, I believe my years of raising children plus working with child clients and their families enables me to provide useful, generalised, lived experience perspectives & info in YouTube’s pre-recorded format.

Ask AMY : Gender Neutral Parenting Debate Crushed By Logic

  1. I think my views are similar to yours. I was raised without gender stereotypes. Toys weren't off limits because they were 'boy' toys. I had a green bedroom. I was clear that I was female, but that didn't decide my personality. I think deciding not to allow a child to grow up with a gender is just as harmful as turning against them if they realise they are misgendered when older. You're setting them up to be bullied etc, and a lot of confusion.

  2. There are quite a few people at my high school who are transgender, they are not able to use bathrooms at school. They aren’t allowed in the bathroom corresponding with their identity and appearance. It would also be unsafe for them to go to the bathroom corresponding with their birth sex, because a girl who looks every other girl out there would have to use the male toilets. This is why I think bathrooms should be gender neutral or there should be just as many gender neutral bathrooms as seperate male/female ones. And not just in schools, in all public places because this problem is far bigger than that. What is your opinion on this?

  3. I'd love to hear YOUR take on raising theybies?? If you do or will raise your kids as gender open or gender creative or gender affirming – please share your thoughts!! Or if you object to this sort of parenting – please share your thoughts too!! 🍀
