In my Highs and Lows of Parenting for February 2018 I talk about missing my family in Brazil, finding the perfect work life balance, dealing with Isabella’s sleep and lots more. Here is my Highs and Lows of Parenting playlist:

Hi, I’m Ysis, full-time mummy to toddler James and baby Isabella, permanently sleep deprived and lover of all things tech & beauty! My husband and I live in Wales but I’m originally from Brazil.

I’m a qualified lawyer, turned blogger & vlogger. I use my videos to share a bit of everything from makeup to mummy updates. I would describe myself as a happy, positive, honest and loyal person; online shopping is my arch-enemy!

  2. Ear infections are so hard to deal with when your child has an ear infection . What I found helpful was Motrin or Tylenol takes the pain away quickly and, if your laying her flat in her back In her bed she’s not sleeping because it’s a lot more painful when you lay down . What I found helpful was put a pillow Under the mattress of her bed so she will sit up slightly while she sleeps and give her Tylenol or Motrin before bath that way it has time to kick in and take a warm cloth and kind of put it behind her ear . All these things helped my son sleep very well . Hope this helps you!

  3. I was thinking of being a work at home mom…will be able to pick up my child on time from day care…don't know if that's a good idea when work and family are at the same place…

  4. Hi Ysis once again thank you for being so honest, but you are clearly a very loving mum and your children are a credit to you. Having two children under three and holding down any job is something to be congratulated for! It’s a shame you’re mum is in Brazil but think how much you appreciate seeing her when you go to Brazil and her heart will burst when she sees your two gorgeous children, and you of course!I’m glad you feel like you have made some progress on your work/ life balance, just wondered if maybe your parents in law could help out a bit to give you some time to yourself?I’m going to be a grandmother for the first time next month and I watch your videos so I can pick up helpful tips for my daughter in law, I love your honesty and it helps me to understand what new mums go through as things have changed so much these days!

  5. We took a double buggy as we found it easier for us. I pushed the buggy and my husband dealt with the luggage. It’s easier when it comes to dropping off the buggy at the gate. Also I found it easier to just deal with one buggy on holiday rather than two x

  6. I know what you mean about missing family – I found this last Christmas really hard. Most of my family are Irish and live in Ireland, I haven't seen them in about 5 years, so just before Christmas I booked to go over there for a week in April (heading out 1st April) and I can't wait to see them all – and can't wait for the kids to meet their great uncles, aunties and second cousins 🙂 My Dad is flying over from Thailand too, so they'll get to meet their Grandad finally! Oh and Squidge is the same with food, only since Dot has started weaning (last few weeks) has Squidge started eating better. For the first time, most nights I'm able to cook one big meal and all of us eat it together 🙂

  7. I'm an immigrant in the UK as well with 2 kids under 3. It's so hard to be away from your family when you're a parent yourself and I have bouts of missing them loads. Skype helps a bit. Enjoy your time back in Brazil! For travelling, does Isabella go in a sling/carrier? That usually saves me one buggy.
    PS Snow days are amazing!
