I never thought I’d say this out loud, but here it is—I’ve stopped buying Turkish goods, canceled a planned trip to Cappadocia, and actively avoid anything made in Azerbaijan. Why? Because I refuse to support nations that support terror, fund conflict, and insult my country on global stages while pretending to wave the flag of peace.
Let’s be real—this isn’t just politics. It’s personal.
A Personal Wake-Up Call
The turning point for me was when I watched Turkey’s President Erdoğan stand at the UN, mouth full of hypocrisy, lecturing India on Kashmir—an internal matter, while remaining conveniently silent on the Uyghur genocide in China. How noble, right?
And then came the deeper dig. Turkish drones? Supplied to Pakistan—yep, the same country that has hosted terror camps and sent militants across our borders for decades. These aren’t empty threats. These are real bullets. Real bombs. Real Indian soldiers losing their lives.
If someone sends arms to your enemy, knowing full well they’ll be used against your people, what do you call that? I call it supporting terrorism.

Look, I’ll admit it—Turkey looks stunning on Instagram. The hot air balloons in Cappadocia, the spice markets in Istanbul, the white terraces of Pamukkale. Been on my bucket list for years. But now?
Forget it. I’m not sipping Turkish tea knowing that every rupee I spend might be fueling a government that trains Pakistani military officials, partners in joint drone programs, and provides a platform for anti-India propaganda via channels like Anadolu Agency and TRT World.
Tourism is a weapon too. Don’t believe me? Google how much Turkey earns annually from foreign tourists—then imagine a chunk of that being redirected into defense deals with Pakistan.
Azerbaijan: The Sidekick Nobody Talks About
Now let’s talk about the not-so-famous sidekick in this geopolitical mess: Azerbaijan. You might be thinking—“Azerbaijan? What’s their problem with India?”
Well, they’re Turkey’s closest military ally, and surprise surprise—they also back Pakistan on Kashmir. They’ve sent troops and drones to help Turkey’s war games and have refused to side with India in international conflicts, especially at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) where they parrot Turkey’s anti-India stance.
The icing on the cake? Azerbaijan also buys arms from Turkey, creating a neat little axis of governments that seem to care more about defending radical ideologies than respecting sovereign nations like India.
What Can We Do About It?
1. Boycott Turkish and Azerbaijani Products
I started by checking labels. Simple, really. That fancy Turkish towel? Skipped it. The pistachios labeled “Product of Turkey”? Right back on the shelf.
Same goes for:
Turkish delight and sweets
Textiles (Turkey is a global leader in cotton and fabrics)
Beauty and skincare items from Turkish brands
Azerbaijani-imported oil and gas-based products (where traceable)
If it says “Made in Turkey” or “Product of Azerbaijan” – I’m not buying it.
2. Unfollow Their Propaganda Machines
Think TRT World is neutral? Think again. Most of their coverage around Kashmir is so one-sided it feels like a script from ISI HQ. Azerbaijan’s state media? Not far behind.
I’ve stopped watching, sharing, or engaging with any content that comes out of their mouthpieces.
3. Say No to Tourism
This one hurts, honestly. I love travel. But I’ve drawn a line. If a country gives drones to those who send terrorists across my border, I’m not sipping cappuccino in their cafes, no matter how pretty the skyline is.
There are plenty of beautiful, friendly countries to visit. Vietnam, Greece, Georgia, Sri Lanka. Countries that don’t insult my homeland on international platforms.
4. Call It Out—Loudly
We can’t afford to be passive anymore. I bring this up in conversations. I post it online. I write blogs like this. Why? Because if we don’t talk about it, we normalize it.
And I’m tired of normalizing hypocrisy and violence disguised as diplomacy.
Some People Will Say: “But This Is Just Politics”
Wrong.
When someone’s political actions result in real threats to your nation’s security, it’s no longer “just politics.” It’s life and death. It’s whether our soldiers come home or not.
When our neighbors support us, we show gratitude. When they work against us, we cut ties. That’s not being dramatic—it’s being awake.
It’s Not About Hate. It’s About Self-Respect.
Let me be clear: I don’t hate Turkish or Azerbaijani people. Many of them are lovely. Many are suffering under regimes they didn’t vote for.
But that doesn’t mean I’ll bankroll a government that funds our enemies, promotes jihadist narratives, and disrespects India at every global opportunity.
TL;DR – Here’s What You Can Do Today
✅ Stop buying Turkish and Azerbaijani products
✅ Don’t travel to Turkey or Azerbaijan
✅ Unfollow their media outlets
✅ Educate your family, friends, and followers
✅ Support nations that support India
Final Thought (Not a Conclusion—Just Real Talk)
There’s no rule that says your money can’t be a weapon. In fact, it already is. Every rupee we spend is a vote—for peace or for propaganda, for national pride or foreign provocation.
So choose wisely.
As for me? I choose India. I choose truth. I choose to boycott Turkey and Azerbaijan. Not out of hate—but out of love. For my country. For peace. For justice.
