Operation Sindoor Live Updates – Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated sharply following a series of cross-border incidents along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Boundary in Jammu and Kashmir. Explosions were reported early Friday morning in the Poonch and Rajouri districts, indicating intensified military activity in the region.
On May 8 at approximately 11 PM, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully foiled a major infiltration attempt near the International Border in the Samba district. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), BSF Jammu stated:
“At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K.”
Additionally, reports from defence sources confirmed that the Indian Air Defence Systems shot down a Pakistani Air Force jet in the Pathankot sector of Punjab. While an official confirmation is awaited, this marks a significant escalation in military responses.
In another major development, two Pakistani drones were intercepted and destroyed by the Indian Army in the Naushera sector amidst intense artillery exchanges between Indian and Pakistani forces.
According to the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Pakistan made direct attempts to target military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur using missiles and drones. Indian forces responded promptly, neutralizing the threats without any reported loss of life.
The Defence Staff posted on X:
“Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu and Kashmir targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. No losses. Threat neutralised by Indian Armed Forces as per SoP with kinetic and non-kinetic means.”
These attacks follow India’s launch of “Operation Sindoor“ on May 7, during which Indian forces conducted precision missile strikes on nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The strikes targeted infrastructure linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, and were in direct retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 28 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.
Amid the escalating situation, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar held strategic discussions with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas. Jaishankar reiterated that India will not tolerate further provocations and will respond decisively to cross-border terrorism.
Following the discussions, US Vice President JD Vance addressed the conflict on Fox News, stating that the India-Pakistan conflict is fundamentally not America’s business, though the US is urging both nations to de-escalate.
“India has its issues with Pakistan. Pakistan has responded to India. What we can do is encourage these countries to de-escalate. But we are not going to get in the middle—it’s fundamentally none of our business,” Vance said.
He also expressed concern about the nuclear stakes involved, saying the US administration is monitoring the situation closely and advocating for peace.
The developments in Operation Sindoor continue to unfold, highlighting India’s firm stance against terrorism and infiltration while drawing cautious international attention.
